"ROOF-CARE SPECIALIST CORNERS NEW MARKET"
A Scottish roof-care specialist is going from strength to strength
as it expands its operation through new market sectors and the
development of world-wide agents.
COPPER RIDGE of Perth have built a UK wide reputation as roof-care
experts in the private housing market since they were launched in
March 1995. They now aim to extend their patented roof-care
system "COPPER RIDGE" to publicly owned houses and buildings across
the country.
COPPER RIDGE is a unique "n" shaped strip of 99.9% pure copper which
is fixed in two metre lengths along the roof edge. Exposure to air
and water causes the copper to oxidise, producing a fungicide called
Copper Sulphate - a highly effective moss killer.
As part of the new marketing drive, COPPER RIDGE will take a
promotional stand at the Scottish Federation of Housing
Associations' Annual Conference in Inverness later this month, and
have launched a company website to promote their product across the
globe and help develop a world wide network of agents.
Mr Colin Currah, Managing Director of COPPER RIDGE explained: "We
have had a very successful first year in the private housing sector
and completed some projects for local authorities and housing
associations in Scotland. This conference, which attracts Scottish
public housing sector delegates will help us promote the low cost,
and safety conscious, benefits of COPPER RIDGE in beating roof moss,
algae and lichen.
"It also ties in with the launch of the COPPER RIDGE website to pick
up international interest that has been expressed in Canada and
America. Ideally, we would be looking to recruit agents who could
supply and fit the product because COPPER RIDGE is a versatile
product with new applications constantly being developed: for
example: Historic Buildings, Monuments and concrete facades."

Roofing materials like tiles, slates, fibre, cement and asbestos all
become dull and weakened by moss growth. Even the thinnest layer of
moss causes problems because it acts like a sponge absorbing water,
which increases the weight and stress on the roof, shortening its
productive life. Frost damage can also be a problem, pushing the
tiles up and cracking them.
COPPER RIDGE is more effective and environmentally friendly than
other roof cleaning measures such as power washing or brushing
techniques which can remove or roughen the surface of the roofing
material, and reduce the intended productive life of the roof.
Messy, and dangerous, temporary solutions at best, which require
repeated application; they also spread the moss spores rather than
